An image arrives before we do. It reaches the room first, settles in, and quietly tells the story we are still gathering words for.

I have spent years with words. I love them, I tend them, I whisper them. And still, there are moments when a single photograph says in one breath what a page would take an afternoon to say.

This is a gentle reflection on that breath.

When Words Need a Companion

As builders, we are asked to explain ourselves in so many places. A bio. A pitch. A caption. A line beneath our name. Each one asks us to fit a whole life into a small space.

An image expands that space. It holds tone, warmth, and intention all at once. Someone scrolling past in a crowded atmosphere can feel who you are in a single glance, and choose to lean in.

The same is true when we gather for a common good. A cause becomes real when people can see the faces, the hands, the light in the eyes. A photograph invites people to belong before they have read a single sentence.

When we choose imagery with care, our brand becomes an honest extension of our spirit. People meet us as we truly are, and that recognition is where trust begins.

What the Camera Heard

On a bright afternoon beneath an old olive tree, a series of images was made of me. When I saw them, I recognized myself. Fully.

There I am in a soft camel dress, draped at the neck, belted at the waist. Gold and silver cuffs stacked at each wrist. A long chain resting close to the heart. Laced heels climbing toward the knee. A black blazer with thimble buttons, worn over the shoulders like an embrace.

Those are the details. The story lives somewhere else.

  • In the laughter, head tipped back, hands pressed together, joy spilling over with ease.

  • In the prayer, palms joined, eyes soft, a quiet gratitude that needs no caption.

  • In the play, one heel lifted, lips pursed, a finger raised as if to say, and one more thing.

  • In the open hands, arms extended, offering whatever the moment asks for.

  • In the stillness, arms folded, a smile that holds both confidence and welcome.

What the camera caught is the Presence I carry. Divine, from The Source, constant and near. It moves with me into every room, and here it stood still long enough to be seen.
